For thatched properties, we believe a pellet stove is the safest and most suitable solid-fuel option. Wood pellets have a very low moisture content, typically around 10 percent, which means they burn cleanly and produce very little creosote within the chimney.
Traditional wood burning stoves can operate at much higher flue temperatures, which can increase the risk of heat transfer in a thatched property. Pellet stoves run at a much lower temperature, usually around 150 to 200 degrees Fahrenheit, and create fewer sparks at the top of the chimney.
This makes them cleaner, safer and easier to control, while still offering the comfort and warmth of a real flame.
